METROPOLIS Showing at SF Silent Film Festival
See the newly restored version of Fritz Lang's Masterpiece, accompanied by the Alloy Orchestra!

Friday, July 16th
8:15pm

Castro Theatre
429 Castro Street
San Francisco, CA 94114-2019

"Maybe you’ve heard the buzz about METROPOLIS: the incredible discovery of long-lost footage from director Fritz Lang’s masterpiece. Found in a vault in Buenos Aires, the complete film has been reconstructed and restored by the F.W. Murnau Foundation and had its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival.

The surprise is that we will present the San Francisco screening of this gorgeous and complete restored version at our 15th Anniversary festival in July, accompanied by the world-renowned Alloy Orchestra!

We are thrilled to be able to bring this to you and cannot wait to celebrate METROPOLIS as both a silent masterpiece and a testament to the value of film preservation."

Kostume Kult needs help with our annual mission of 'costuming the naked' and all those who come unprepared for this magnificent experience. To do so, our Esplanade costume dome needs assistance with costume and accessory donations - underused clutter or costumes with a past glory that can now be passed to others to mix and match as only burners can.

Over the last few years we have gotten many-many boxes of costumes donated by costume shops, theater groups and burners like you and, for 5 days-- Tuesday afternoon through Saturday, we help outfit people for the playa empowering them to have more fun and make better connections reinforcing the BM spirit that lives on with them afterward... In the Kostume Dome, where everyone needs to wear what they want to take with them, each guest leaves via our runway out onto the esplanade with the encouragement of our MCs and DJs. The perfect place to recycle that stuff you no longer need!

For more on our costume recycling program, check the glossy we send out to costume shops and theater groups at:
http://kostumekult.com/bm2010/recycle/KKCostumeSolicit2010.pdf

In addition --- about the Lawn Animals ---

This year we are seeking help with our "Grand Absurdity Plaza" runway arch... Located on Esplanade frontage at 8:08 this will be an arch reminiscent of Brooklyn's Grand Army Plaza ( http://i.pbase.com/u26/automat42/upload/19674618.ArchGrandArmyPlaza005.JPG) over our fashion runway where its war memorial statuary (three clusters of horses and soldiers) will be replaced by an absurdest hodge-podge of lawn animals, nativity scene figures and other such lightweight pieces...

THE PROBLEM we discovered in doing this is that mostly such figures are now inflatables and we are scrambling to find things that will work for the vision (3 clusters of figures on the top and sides of the arch mixing genres, from nativity scene to Christmas reindeer, Halloween props and pink flamingos--- The ideas being lightweight plastic lawn creatures, mannequins and other whimsical things... And we would love to top this with a burnified Jesus on the very top holding the Kostume Kult flag and a blinking light --- so we can find our way home! ;)

Costumes or silliness, if you have stuff to donate or know where to buy lawn animals cheap---- please email me at kkostumes@gmail.com... (and we can help with shipping $ for larger bundles or the lawn art if needed)

Much love!

David K
